A bead of sweat appeared on his forehead, his left leg jumpier than a hound dog barking at a squirrel up a tree. The others around the table tried to remain composed as they watched the clock tick down on the large monitor in front of them.
Missile deployment in T minus 15 seconds…
He stared down at the red phone, willing it to ring. Pleading to himself that it would ring or that he could be anywhere else. He watched them each carefully. They could stop this. Why won’t they stop this!
