In Part I, I shared with you a bit about the time in my life when these stories came about. But now I want to pull back the curtain for you, but only a little bit, and tell you the title for each story as well as give you a sentence (or two or three) on what they are about. Sort of my way of keeping you interested in buying it when the pre-order arrives the Spring of 2025.
Oh, and before I forget, for those of you who may be interested to know about the formats this book will be available in:
Paperback & Hardcover will include 1 (possibly 2) additional stories. Available for purchase through all major online booksellers.
Ebook that you can purchase directly from me. This version will not contain the 1 (or 2) additional stories that will be included in the paperback and hardcover versions.
Now, onto the stories that will be contained in the collection:
Bone War - An elderly man, the collector of bones and memories of loved ones lost in an endless war, receives a visitor who plans to change his life forever.
Happy Last Day - A loving and devoted mother of twin boys just might be in over her head when tragedy strikes not once, but twice…
What Big Teeth - A fairytale retelling of Little Red Riding Hood which imagines the story as if the big bad wolf is a legend that does much worse than torment little red riding hood and her grandmother.
Hanover Massacre - A swanky party filled with guests drinking and smoking and having a grand old time. Little do they know, hidden among them in plain sight is a serial killer! But when an overworked journalist pays a visit to the house for research, she gets much more than she bargained for upon arrival.
Happy Eater - It’s hard to please the best chef in the world. Guests book months in advance and come from all over the world to eat his cuisines. Little do they know what happens in the kitchen. Behind closed door…
The Murder Factory - Harold has been on the unemployment line more times than he can count. But this time he needs to really get this job. He’ll say and do whatever is necessary to keep this job or else he might have to live on the streets. Unfortunately for Harold, he learns the hard way that not all jobs are worth excelling in.
The Hanging Tree - High school reunions can be tricky, especially for the student who was tormented and bullied her entire time there. So why does she go? What does she hope to get out of such a trip down memory lane?
The Mermaid and the Pirate - Pirate Captain Swift is in search of a treasure, as all pirates often do. But when the captain goes mad and his crew grows wary, he’ll need more than the love of a mermaid to overcome his demons.
Two Little Orphans -
The Empty Casket -
The Book of Quests -
The Potion -
The Secret Keeper - I never could resist an infomercial. Especially the ones in the middle of the night, when you’re starving for food and you grab a snack and get sucked into the loud voice on the screen screaming for you to ACT NOW to get in on some amazing deal! But be wary of the ones that seem too good to be true. Because that’s exactly what they are.
And for good measure, here are two that didn’t quite make the cut, but I may change my mind between now and the moment when I put the book together:
Letters to Emma - An admirer is sending letters to a woman he’s watched from afar. Seems innocent enough. But sooner or later unrequited love can go horribly wrong.
The Eternal View** - A man wakes from a coma, after a fifteen years, only to discover his life has been determined unsuitable under the new laws. Can he talk himself out of this predicament before the elevator reaches the top? Or will he want to follow through with societies wishes after all? This story contains more than one ending.
