The cauldron simmered as an old woman hummed her favorite tune. Preparations for her daughter’s visit. They only saw each other once a year. That was the deal they made with each other when she came of age. And in return, her daughter would bring a present.
“She’s here! She’s here!” Squawked her macaw.
The front door opened to reveal her daughter and a man beside her.
“What are you preparing? It smells lovely,” he said.
“Old family recipe. But it’s missing one ingredient my daughter brought me,” the old woman replied.
The man looked puzzled. They came empty handed.
