Her footsteps echos on the cobblestones of an empty side street. She looks to the sky. Clouds and buildings shield her from the sun’s rays. She tries one door. Locked. Another. Locked.
Her pace quickens. Her breathing labored. Another door. This time she bangs on it. “Please, let me in!” she begs. She steps back and notices movement behind a curtain on the second floor. “I see you! Are you really going to leave me out here?”
Other curtains in other windows show movement as well. “Damn you! All of you! Cowards!”
The clouds part. The sun sets her ablaze.
