TRANSCRIPT
With the last key stroke his hands cramped immediately and he massaged his fingers, smiling at the cheers and applause coming from an audience he couldn’t see. His assistant came up behind him and placing a hand on his left shoulder for reassurance to dab his forehead and whisper in his ear.
“You’re doing great. Another couple more songs and everyone should be far enough away from here.”
“I don’t know if I can play another one, Belle. My fingers…” he croaked.
“I understand, sugar. But consider what they’ll do to you when they discover who you’ve helped to escape.”
The Prince of Keys is the bearer of responsibility. He has power over other people, and the power to grant it to them. They want him, his time, his attention. What he chooses to give them is always a balancing act. If he gives nothing, he is cruel. If he gives it all, he’ll have nothing left.
