TRANSCRIPT
I gripped the stick in my hand tighter as the wind picked up around me. I listened to my family, friends, and neighbors chanting and wailing to the heavens as a cloud rolled past the full moon.
My mother, a tear in her eye, looked down at me and gently squeezed my shoulder. Her signal to me that now was the time. And as I walked towards the flames, my stick ignited, becoming a torch!
Steadily, I turned to face a mound of sticks twice my height. My father laid to rest. I lowered my torch and sent him home.
The Ancestors card speaks to a history of influence. It’s certainly no secret that many cultures revere those who came before us, nor is it a mystery why they do. Looking to the past for why things are the way they are now is natural.
