Today on Erica Drayton Writes, the Prompt is echo!
Write a 100 word story.
And tag me if you take up the challenge.
She ran to her car, fumbling for the keys before peeling out of the gas station. She stared in the rearview mirror to make sure she wasn’t being followed. At every random pitstop, during her roadtrip, she encountered the same person. And what bothered her wasn’t the possibility that she was being followed, it was the sense that she recognized the person following her.
With just eight hours remaining before she would reach her hotel, she decided not to make anymore pitstops.
But with gas near empty she decided to risk running into her doppelgänger at the upcoming gas station.
The Echoing is the presence, or mere echo, of something that is now gone. Its a reminder that it happened, but rarely anything more. Recognize its history, but do not act like it still lives. You can nod your head and keep going with it gone.
