She stood at the kitchen window, coffee in hand, staring at the front yard. Sunrise kissed the grass, making it sparkle from last nights rain.
Taking a sip of coffee she couldn’t help but smile to herself.
“Is she out there again?” The sound of her husband’s voice snapped her back to reality and the aloneness of her kitchen.
“Yes,” she nodded, closing her eyes tightly and wishing she hadn’t answered him. That he hadn’t asked.
“We talked about this. What did the doctor say we should do whenever this happens?”
She reached into a nearby drawer for her pills.
Too many miles, too many days
Too many nights I was alone
His love was so grand when he held my hand
