Decapitating the head was easy for Gilbert. He’d been doing it for the past twenty-five years. A tradition passed down to him by his mother and her father before her. The art of decapitation was unique but the hard part was what Gilbert hated most.
After decapitation it was required to string up what remained of the body. A sign for passersby to see, and know, that this kind of behavior was unacceptable. It required a placard explaining the crime that caused the victim to lose their head. But dear, sweet, fairly likable, Gilbert never learned to read or write.
