A woman humming echoes down the hall as two heavily armed police officers silently enter the home. They signal to each other as they walk towards the kitchen. They can hear scrubbing and suddenly the woman is singing a happy tune.
One officer pushes the kitchen door slightly open and peeks in to find the woman, hair a mess, swaying her hips at the sink. Her back to him. The floorboard beneath his partner’s feet creaks and she turns instantly.
“Why, hello officer. Would you like some breakfast?”
Seated at the table is her husband, face down in his plate.

100 words of breakfast

In the hotel room, they had been sitting on the bed for over an hour. Marie was getting increasingly restless. Her husband tried to calm her down. After all, they were on vacation. Marie decided to get up and go to reception. While she was getting dressed, her husband tried again to calm her down, but Marie didn't think he would give up his position.
When Marie opens the door, she sees the steward's trolley with breakfast. On the floor, the body of a man, lying as if asleep. He's not breathing, he has no pulse, he's freezing. He's dead.
