“Please, sir. My husband. He—“ Nick looked over at the pleading woman at his table. He stared daggers, hated being disturbed when Lola sang.
“What about your husband?” He asked, fixing his gaze on Lola and her beautiful voice.
“We have very little money, sir. What we do have we need to buy our tickets on the next train—“
Nick scoffed. “Train? What train? Haven’t you heard? All trains are stopped indefinitely. Now, a plane…” Nick eyed her suspiciously. “But you couldn’t afford it.”
“That is why I am here, sir. To ask you to forgive his debts to you.”
