“Get me a drink!” She shouted to an empty room. “I want a drink.” Her voice quieted down to a slur then a whisper. “Why won’t someone get me…”
She slumped forward, and stopped shouting.
A little girl entered the room and cautiously poked the woman who appeared to be asleep. When the woman didn’t respond to being poked, the little girl knew she was safe. Getting on tiptoe she reached around to her back and found the key. She started to turn it over and over till she couldn’t and stood back.
Her robot mother came back to life.
