She sleeps soundly. Her black hair shines by the moonlight through her sheer curtains. Window closed and barred. No way in. No way out. But still, she sleeps soundly.
Her head shakes back and forth wildly. Another nightmare. She grips her blankets. Sweat beads upon her forehead and her face scrunches up. It’s the same nightmare she’s had every night for the past week.
She screams and sits up! Tears on her flush cheeks. She looks to her bedroom door. Fearful of who might come in. She hides under her bed.
I close my curtains. I always hate this part.
