Today on Erica Drayton Writes, the Prompt is defiance!
Write a 100 word story.
And tag me if you take up the challenge.
“Stop right there.” Down a dark alley, a faulty lamp on the fritz casts my shadow on the wall beside me. These records I’m holding are weighing me down. But burdens always do. “Turn around slowly.”
I am defiant. I am not afraid.
“Did you not hear me, boy. I said, turn around.” Heavy boots walk towards me. I keep going down the dark alley. “Stop,” he says. Heavy boots moving faster. “Stop or I’ll shoot!”
The records slip. A bullet rings out. Darkness. The lamp has gone dark. But not the music. They carry burdens but we cherish them.
