The candle flickered under a thin piece of string. As the wax melted bubbles along the side, the flame grew taller. A gust of wind passed through and the string caught the flicker. A lick was all it needed. The flame danced and the string snapped.
In an instant the guillotine fell.
KAH-SHING. LOP. THUD.
Another head lost. Another candle left to burn. Till the wax had played its part. The executioner returns to collect his tools. A hooded shroud black as the night brings home his candle and a bit of string. Waiting till he is called upon again.
