#755 - Enkidu and Gilgamesh

The ventilator keeping Mr. Bradshaw Sidney-Blythe alive beeped, and beeped, for hours and days on end. His faithful man-servant, Charles, remained by his side. He’d bring Mr. Sidney-Blythe his favorite books to read, music to listen to. Even talked to him as if he were alive and well.

The doctors explained he would never wake up. But Mr. Sidney-Blythe was a man of means. He could remain on the ventilator another hundred years and barely make a dent in his fortune.

But he also bought friendship in the form of Charles, pulling the plug on his way out the door.
