Find five coins before the time runs out. Those words echoed in his head as he tried to calm his breathing. He was taken and placed in a room with no light. His eyes deceived him. Made him think he was drowning in a pool of darkness. His heart rate intensified. He closed his eyes but the silence beat a dirge in his ears.

Crawling on the ground he cut his hands and knees on broken glass. One. Two. Three. Four.

Someone lit a match beside him. It’s too late! “Daddy, why are you on the floor in my room?”
