The straps on his head, wrists, waist, and legs were tight but he focused his breathing. In the darkness he could pretend no one saw or heard his heartbeat. Soon, the switch would be flipped and he would know fear. He had to mask his fear.
A muffled voice spoke his name and his crimes. He chuckled and coughed beneath the restraints. Hearing his deeds gave him a newfound strength he forgot he had. Yes. He did those things. He was evil and evil had no fear.
The switch flipped, he felt free and laughed in the face of fear.
