The ground was wet from last night’s rain, but Henry was out with his shovel and his handkerchief, wiping his brow under the midday sun.
“Almost done there, Henry?” Father Ignatius asked, casting a long shadow across the cemetery.
“Si, padre,” Henry answered, stopping to take a drink that Father Ignatius had brought him.
“Good. I heard our visitor will be arriving tonight. Nasty business, hanging. But, I think he’ll be in good company.”
Henry nodded. Not understanding a word the Father spoke to him before returning to his chore.
