The Elder walked barefoot. Empty bucket in one hand. Cane made of bone, mud, and blood, in the other. Her steps echoed a call to the villagers.

One by one they walked up to her and poured water from a clay cup they spent their entire life protecting into the bucket. With each step she took it got heavier. Water sloshed about but she remained steady. Her journey would end soon.

At the river she walked in. The water waking her muscles. She tossed the cane aside and poured the bucket over her head. Pain washed away for another year.
