“Alright, class. I sure hope you’ve been practicing, as today is a pop quiz where you’ll need your wands…”

The students suddenly burst into loud whispers. Up until this point in the semester they were never allowed to use their wand unless specifically called upon to perform a mundane task. They’d hard of Ms. Shackleford’s surprise tests that could involve loss of limbs or worse, life, and this excited everyone.

Everyone, that is, except Daniel who suddenly wished he’d stayed home today. It was only recently he’d been given his wand back after an incident.

“Daniel, you’re with me today.”
