In the captain’s quarters, men more senior in age and experience than he, waited for his command. He could feel their eyes staring at him. Instead he chose to stare down at their battle plans. Plans brought to him months ago. Promising a winning battle on the high seas. Now, they stare at him and hope for retreat? No! Not today! He slammed the point of his knife into the center of the plans.
“Hoist the colors. Tell the men, tonight we fight!”
