The rosebush grew overnight, thick and black, its thorns glistening from rainfall. Emily swore she hadnât planted it, yet it whispered her name when the wind blew. Each morning, it crept closer to her window, roots clawing through soil and concrete alike.
On the seventh night, she woke to find it blooming inside her room, petals slick with blood. One thorn pierced her ankle, and she couldnât move.
âYou promised,â it hissed. Memories surfacedâher childhood wish for eternal beauty. The bush tightened its vines lovingly around her throat. Outside, a new rose unfurled, crimson and perfect in the moonlight.
