Her tear streaked face blurred her vision as she painstakingly picked up the broken pieces off the carpet. Red wine stained the pure white, making it even more difficult to see the pieces of glass as they seemed to be swallowed by the fine threads.
The sound of shouting echoed in her ears, standing over her, casting a dark shadow. But she did not hear the words. Small mercies. Though she could feel the anger reverberating through her body, knelt on the floor.
She gripped a large shard, felt it pierce the palm of her hand.
Temptation shattered her rage.
