TRANSCRIPT

I didn’t notice the black feather on the kitchen windowsill. Nor did I notice the black feather in front of my bedroom door. It wasn’t until I opened my front door that I noticed three black feathers, like three dark slashes, resting on my morning paper.

“Morning,” my neighbor said, with a smile and wave. He never smiled or waved at me before. Shielding my eyes from the sun, for a second I swear my neighbor looked like a raven. Another glance and he was back to normal.

“KRAA!” A conspiracy of ravens started to land in my front yard.
