He sees the light on in the front sitting room and smiles at the thought of his adoring wife waiting up for him. The full moon illuminates a large estate as he staggers slightly up the front porch steps, using the railing to steady himself.
The front door opens before he has a chance to reach for the doorknob and a boy runs past him, “See you later, mother.” Mother? Who was that boy?
He walks into his childhood home but doesn’t recognize it at all. He enters the sitting room. A cup falls to the floor. His wife faints.
