“How long’s he been here?” Officer Singer asked Cheryl, a waitress at the Five & Dime Diner. When Cheryl started her shift this morning, filling the orders of her morning regulars, she’d never imagine an officer would be asking her questions about Professor Hank.
“About half an hour. Why?” Officer Singer ignored Cheryl’s questions as he looked around the diner, assessing his options.
“We need to, quickly and quietly, get everyone out of here. Can you help me do that…Cheryl?”
“Not until you tell me what make’s a blind man so dangerous?”
“How about a dead body under his bed?”
