“Any leads?”
A loaded question. If I had any leads she’d wanna know who and put a bullet in them for taking her daughter. If I didn’t have any, that bullet would be reserved for me.
“None that I’m willing to share with you, Chief.” She may have the gun, but I got all the bullets on this one. “I won’t pretend I understand. I don’t. But don’t ask me back here again. The next time you see me, it means I’ve done my job.”
I walk to the door and wait for her nod before I get to work.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream - Act 2, Scene 1
OBERON
Cupid all armed. A certain aim he took
At a fair vestal thronèd by the west,
And loosed his love-shaft smartly from his bow
As it should pierce a hundred thousand hearts. All 100 Word Stories
