“I know who you pretend to be. Shall I tell you?”
I leaned back in my chair and looked over at my partner who shook his head. He was on the phone with the team currently trying to trace this caller to his exact location.
“Sure, why not?”
I quickly got to work breaking down who he wanted to be. “Your kills make you sloppy and obvious. Not genius or methodical as you’d hoped. I set up this call for instance.”
“You didn’t know I’d be calling! I could’ve killed another instead.”
“Then who would you tell your story to?”
Hamlet - Act 5 Scene 2
HERMIONE
Since what I am to say must be but that
Which contradicts my accusation, and
The testimony on my part no other
But what comes from myself, it shall scarce boot me
To say “Not guilty.” Mine integrity,
Being counted falsehood, shall, as I express it,
Be so received. But thus: if powers divine
Behold our human actions, as they do,
I doubt not then but innocence shall make
False accusation blush and tyranny
Tremble at patience. You, my lord, best know,
Whom least will seem to do so, my past life
Hath been as continent, as chaste, as true,
As I am now unhappy; which is more
Than history can pattern, though devised
And played to take spectators. All 100 Word Stories

This was so great! I have just discovered your work and am happily stumbling through the stories. I write micro fiction too, so there is a lot to learn from and enjoy here. Thank you for making so many of them available!
