The warehouse had been abandoned for many decades but its bones would never give way, not even in the middle of a never ending war. Everyone fought to defend their mother country. Hank had no mother and therefore had no country. But he needed to survive just as much as any soldier.
As the war weary people slept, Hank broke into the warehouse for shelter. Instead, he found a shoe box that should’ve been destroyed (or stolen) by now.
Inside, a pair of war torn boots. A perfect fit for his calloused bare feet.
