There hadn’t been anything of real significance about the moon before. Sometimes it was full and sometimes it was the shape of a fingernail. Few bothered to acknowledge it, taking it for granted that the moon would simply be there every night and gone the next morning.
Then one day, it vanished. Not behind some rain clouds or snow clouds, but it was completely gone. Scientists searched the sky. Astronauts were sent up in rockets. The moon was gone.
No one knows if it’ll ever be back. Now everyone realizes how important moonlight can be in the dark of night.
