Letās get this weekend write-life started! From this Friday forward, Iāll include an image prompt and a few words to get your brain percolating towards a story. But only if you need it! Write whatever sparks joy for you.
Hereās how:
Exactly 100 words. Not 99 or 101. The Word Count Police are tracking!
Genre? Writerās choice! So long as you give us all the thrills and the feels.
To Fic or to Non-Fic? You decide. What matters most is that youāre satisfied with the output.
Copy/paste your words in the comments, then share on your own Substack, and maybe, share to social media!

IMAGE PROMPT
What mysteries are waiting to be found at the end of the tunnel? Where was this tunnel discovered? Who is walking (or running) to find its exit?
So many possibilities to choose from. Which will you decideā¦
REMINDER: You donāt have to write your story just on Fridays! Take this sentiment and free write all weekend long!

Hi Erica and Debs, Barrie,
Hereās my morsel of thought. This Fridayās story of mine is called,
Face of an angel.
A true story in 100 words. Inspired from a journey last autumn from Leeds. A lesson in never judge a book by its cover.
City bus station. White corrugated roof. Concrete ground. Stern-faced bus driver of sixty plus, hair combed in thick gel. Pale faced he packs cases into the hold.
But keys didnāt turn in the ignition.
He appears at the staircase to announce the loos were vandalised.
āDonāt fret ladies, Iāll wait at the next stop if you need it. Why do they do it? Some spoil it for the rest. Older I get, the closer to nature I feel. Weāre all made of the same. Doesnāt hurt nobody to help another. āHeartā. Itās an anagram of earth. Weāre of one earth.ā

Title: The Serpents' Wisdom
I saw them, Buck,ā Ross said.
āSaw what?ā
āThe snakes. The serpents. They told me a lot of things. They are enlightening stuff. Veryā¦ enlightening.ā
āSlow down, Ross,ā Buck said. āItās the pharmakeia fucking with your brain.ā
āI donāt think so,ā replied Ross. āIāve been stuck for so long. Iāve wondered how we can make something thatāll go faster-than-light. Something that would honestly break the laws of fucking physics. But these serpents told me the answer. I would never have seen it were it not for them, Buck. They only asked me one thing in return.ā
āWhat?ā
āYour life, Buck.ā
