Spring 2025 Goals
It's not about why you fell, but how you choose to get back up...
Dear Reader,
Where exactly have I been these past two months? I missed the March 1st and April 1st monthly email update I send and with good reason. First, I was sick. Then, I thought I would try my hand at going Live for these monthly recap emails. Sorta like how Brandon Sanderson does his Weekly Updates on YouTube. He goes on for about 5min (or less) and manages to cram so much of what he’s working on in that short amount of time, I figured I could do that! How hard could it be? Well, then I got injured. Actually, not so much injured as I finally understood the extent of my sciatica that I also was recently diagnosed with. Not fun. In fact, as I’m writing this email I am still not 100% back to normal with being able to walk and not feel pain.
Aside from that, I’ve been busier than I like to admit with Top in Fiction. If you don’t know, it’s a side project that seems to have become more of a main project for me, that I created (on a whim) to help the fiction community here. It’s actually quite a vibrant one and a lively one. But I realize running it to the level that I had been was quickly becoming unsustainable. Especially, if I want to do my own writing and enjoy the nicer weather that is happening all around me. So, I spent most of the last two months figuring out how to cut back on Top in Fiction and other areas of my life in order to make room for the things that are also equally (if not more) important to me. I’m not getting any younger and I want to do it all, which means sacrifice must be made.
I never know how to treat these emails is another reason why I haven’t written one these past two months. I tried to make them organized but that made them feel too fake. I tried to be statistical, but I hated the statistics I had to share. They made me feel like I wasn’t accomplishing very much. Every time I opened a document specifically to share what’s going on with my writing I froze. Not much writing going on over here. At least, not as much as I always hope there would be.
So, as I figure things out for myself this Spring/Summer, I hope you will bear with me. Here’s a list of what I’d like to have happen with my writing over the next four months:
MAY
Release ONE short story.
Release ONE episode for The Serial Hour Podcast.
Do at least ONE Live for Top in Fiction.
Continue daily 100 word stories.
JUNE

Release ONE vignette for The Serial Hour Podcast.
Do at least ONE Live for Top in Fiction.

AUGUST

As it pertains to my self-publishing endeavors, I do just have ONE thing I really would like to not only get done but have a pre-order link for:
The Fifth 100 (A 100 Word Story Collection)
I realize my list seems a bit repetitive if also ambitious. But I’ve scaled back about as much as I can and now it’s time to show some work for it.
I have fear that I may not be able to do any of these things let alone some of them. But I also have a bit of hope that with time and patience all of these goals are fairly achievable. I just need to believe in myself.
