The art of storytelling in as little words as possible, I would imagine, came from the time of fables and fairytales. When parents figured out a great way to teach their children to behave and be good or an evil creature would come and eat them, or worse. But then again, what could be worse than being eaten??
Today, writing a 100-word story is more akin to flexing one’s muscle to captivate a reader and hold their attention for a short amount of time. Leaving them wanting more.
I’ll admit it’s not for everyone. It may not be for you.
Don’t bother counting and instead take my word for it, everything above the line is exactly 100-words! And it was intentional. If you want to read more 100-word stories they are popping up every now and then right on my Substack website. I’m not sending them via email because you never can tell when I’ll feel inspired to write one and I don’t want to send you “daily” emails at random times throughout the day. So, click the button below to see the archive of 100-word stories I’ve been writing the past two months! OR you can follow me on Instagram where I’m sharing my 100-word stories as well!
