Hello Readers!
This past month I came to the realization that writing short stories just wasn't giving me the same thrill as it had been when I started back in 2019. The reason I decided to take a step back from writing novels, at the time, was twofold:
I was overwhelmed with all of the side projects AND the novel I was writing at the time. My ambitions have always been extreme but at that time they were overboard and I found myself having multiple breakdowns.
I put too much pressure on myself to produce too many novels in one year and that just wasn't the right approach to take as a first-time writer who wanted so desperately to break into the industry with a bang!
Now, several years later, I find myself yearning for a longer story. For an epic saga. I miss Stonehaven. And because I miss it, I'm doing what I probably should've done at the beginning of this year, I'm returning to it.
It will be different this time. I'm not going to finish The 5th Compass series of books that I started back then. I feel strongly that I need to start something new and different.
Therefore, I will be writing the first book in a 4-book series called SON OF RIVER. The first book is titled River Run. If you follow me on Twitch you may have heard me speak of this series once or twice because it's an idea I had back when I first started building the world of Stonehaven.
Unlike my previous novel writing attempts, I will NOT be giving myself the goal of writing it in under a month. In fact, I'm insisting that I take AT LEAST 3 months to write the vomit draft. This mean April will be a lot of research, world building, character building, map creating. I'll likely not begin actually writing the story till mid-April / early May.
If you want to get exclusive insight into what I'm doing you can check out my streams on either YouTube or Twitch (Monday - Thursday mornings) or you can become a PATRON. I'll be sharing my research, character sheets, maps, and even unedited chapters with patrons only!
