This is my newsletter. In some social circles you may hear the word “Substack” used. This means different things to different people. What does Substack mean to me? It means I can combine my Wordpress blog with my Mailchimp subscribers and my Patreon patrons all in one place. It means I can focus all my time on my passion; storytelling.
I started writing fiction immediately after my mother taught me how to read at the young age of 3. The idea of words creating worlds fascinated me. I became a sponge for books and movies and television shows and art. But before I tell you what a subscription will get you, let me share where else I happen to be:

FICTION
100 Word Stories [daily] - Stories #1 - 500 are for Paid Subscribers Only. Stories #501 - Present are Free-for-All.
Short Stories [irregular] - If it’s a story in one post, a portion is behind a paywall. If the story is divided into Parts, then Part 1 is Free-for-All and the rest are for Paid Subscribers Only.
The Serials [weekly] - In 2024 I shared the first book from Stonehaven, a fantasy world I created a long time ago. Book One, Daxton, from a planned 6-book series called The 5th Compass took almost the entire year to share. In 2025 I’ll be sharing the second book in the series, called The Eternal Forest, on a weekly basis.
NON-FICTION
Notes from a Writer - My thoughts and opinions as a writer of fiction and community organizer who wants to help fellow fiction writers pursue their publishing dreams. Nestled within here, you’ll also receive emails on the following topics:

about erica
Erica L. Drayton was born in the Bronx in NYC. She began writing stories almost immediately after she learned how to read and write from her mother, a former English teacher. As a gay, black, woman, Erica used storytelling as a way to express her feelings through poetry and fantasy novels at a young age.
After college, she took her continued passion for storytelling and developed it further, into writing short stories, eventually challenging herself to write 100 word stories.
She lives with her wife, young son, two dogs, and three chickens in the Capital Region in Upstate New York.
