Watch not the clock

Or the day’s passing

Watch not the moon’s tide.

Watch rather the human heart

That place where passions live

Which burns.

Where light may,

Or may not penetrate

Prepare for the worst.

For the human heart

Is a mercurial thing

With its own way.

Go not close

Lest you are infected

Melted to nothing

But if you can,

Embrace

And be consumed

Title: Lunch Rush

“Hey Dasher, where’s my food?”

“I have a name, you know.”

“Whatever...”

I regret answering the call already, though I resist the urge to hang up. Maybe I should have, since I’m still driving. Bluetooth is the only reason we are able to talk right now.

“Listen,” I say. “Captain Blue and the Slick Serpent is duking it out again.”

“And?”

“And a whole city block was destroyed by the fighting! I had to take a 30-minute detour!”

“Don’t care.”

I groan in anger. This delivery isn’t worth it. At this point, I remember that I haven’t eaten lunch yet.

Once upon a time, there was no such thing as time.

Wait, no. There wasn't time, so scratch that intro.

There is no such thing as space. There is no such thing as time.

There's only energy. The energy doesn't have a place, per se, because there's no such thing as "place" without space. There's no space without a relationship between two or more things, and there aren't 2 or more things... there's just energy. That's all.

And then, for some reason nobody understands, there's space. Just the teensiest plank length of space, but there it is. And the energy doesn't fit in all that space, so it makes more space.

Time depends on space, so there's time, too.

The rest is Big History.
