Ted pictured the envelope lying open, its contents read. He figured his ex’s first reaction to being invited to his second wedding would be surprise. Followed by sniffling. Eyes reddening. Breath heaving. Ultimately, she’d be overcome. But not with jealousy, or any emotion for that matter. If the anthrax did its job this would be the last he’d hear of her.

Sherri’s latex gloved hands held the invite aloft with forceps, as she chuckled through her PD-100 full face respirator mask. It was not her first rodeo. She hoped he would not hear her wedding gift ticking before it detonated. (100 words)

The Postal Service can trace its roots to 1775 and is generally reliable. Still, the courier game is rife with misadventure. From lost letters to pilfered checks. But is there any sadder fate for a parcel than that encapsulated in these six short words. Orgy invite delivered, alas too late. (50 words)
